Overdose Prevention Centers
The risk of drug overdose is higher when people use by themselves and by using unsafe supplies. Other countries and U.S. states have allowed the establishment of “overdose prevention centers” where individuals can use pre-obtained drugs in a safer environment, where trained staff can reverse an overdose if one occurs. Pending legislation would allow organizations to operate such centers in Vermont to help prevent overdose and keep Vermonters healthier.
